a) Progesterone test:
During a progesterone test, a sample of your blood can be tested for progesterone to check whether you are ovulating. The test is taken seven days before you expect your period to start.

b) Hormone tests:
If your periods are irregular, the level of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinising hormone (LH),estradiol, progesterone in your blood may be tested along with prolactin and testosterone can be done.

c) Anti-Mullerian hormone testing:
Anti-Mullerian hormone tests allow the estimation of ovarian reserve. These give an indication of the likely remaining fertility opportunities a woman may have.

d) Thyroid function test:
It is estimated that between 1.3% and 5.1% of infertile women have an abnormal thyroid gland. If you have any symptoms of a thyroid abnormality, such as weight loss or weight gain, your thyroid gland will be tested to check whether it is functioning properly. Sr TSH, T3, T4 and Free T3, T4 assay is done to evaluate thyroid functions.

Test for men

During a physical examination, your doctor/andrologist may check:
1. Your testicles – to look for any lumps or deformities
2. Your penis – to look at its shape and structure, and for any obvious abnormalities

Further testing may include:
1. Semen analysis – your semen will be tested to determine whether you have a low sperm count, low sperm mobility, pH, sperm morphology, volume, fructose content, and acrosome activity. We may ask for one or more semen specimens. Semen sample is generally obtained by masturbating or by interrupting intercourse and ejaculating your semen into a clean container. At Genesis fertility clinic & IVF center we have a separate room for semen sampling.
2. Hormone testing - A blood test to determine the level of Testosterone and other hormones like FSH is done.
3. Transrectal and scrotal ultrasound - Ultrasound can help your doctor look for evidence of conditions such as retrograde ejaculation and ejaculatory duct obstruction.
4. Genetic testing - Genetic testing may be done to determine whether there’s a genetic defect causing infertility.
5. Testicular Biopsy – If there is further need of tests, then testicular biopsy, TESA or Open biopsy can be done
